HISTORY/LEGEND

The area was surrounded by thick vegetation till certain excavation works were carried out in the site two decades ago on the basis of some intuitions to the local people. Some plinths of Sreekovils, damaged idols, peeddas, omakkals of pillars etc were unearthed during the excavation. Some senior most citizens of the locality remember that they were told by their grand parents that a big shrine was there at this location. But they were not equipped with any substantial information. The enthusiastic youths and devotees in the area took much pain and explored all chances to collect the available information regarding the temple. But no records are available to throw some light on the history of this Shrine. The debris and other items received during the excavation were studied and analysed in detail with the help and guidance of noted historians and archeologists. The veteran historians like Dr. MGS Narayanan and Dr. MR Raghava Warriar opined that the damaged idol received from the site is of more than 1400 years old. A detailed study on various aspects related to this shrine is undertaken by Dr. MG Sasibhooshan and is in progress

Even though the Deity remained non-worshipped for centuries, people in the area are very much aware of the deva chaithanyam prevailing in the area. There are so many instances of mysterious and miraculous activities of Thrikkaippatta Devan, which influenced the day to day activities of people in the area. The mounting desire to renovate and re-establish the past glory of the Shrine had led to serious Astro-Thantrik consultations and as a result the idol received from the location was temporarily installed in a shed(Balalayam) and the devotees are now worshipping there. Subsequently two committees were formed and started functioning, one for Reconstruction and Renovation and the other for Day to day maintenance of the temple.

The Ashtamangalya Prasnam held three times at the shrine. Subsequently a series of discussions and evaluations were held by prominent Astrologers and Thantrik Pramukhs. After protracted discussions, the Astro-Vedic-Thantrik conglomeration of noted Astrologer, Shri Nallur Ramakrishna Panicker, Thantrik Acharya and Chairman, Thantrik Gaveshana Kendram, Iringalakuda, Shri L. Girishkumar, Temple Thantri Brahmashree Tharanallur Padinhare mana Padmanabhan Namboothiripad and Stapathi Brahmasree Vezhaparamb Brahmadathan Namboothiripad reached to a well evaluated and studied decision that the main deity is Lord Subrahmania(Muruka). On the basis of this, a plan and sketch for the Sreekovil for the main deity was prepared by Shri Sreesankaran Thampuran, according the measurements prompted by his Guru, Brahmasree Brahmadathan Namboothiripad. While preparing the sketch, the stature of the destroyed shrine, its oldness, strong and boundless devachaithanyam prevailing at the site, presence of Saktheya Bhagavathi (Rurujith vidhanam), Kiratha Siva and Sasthav and all other related issues were taken into account.
