TEMPLE DEITY

LORD SUBRAHMANYA,THE PRINCIPAL DEITY

The Principal deity of Shri Thrikkaippatta Mahakshethram is Lord Subrahmania as Devasenapathy (Chief of the Army of Devas). The old and damaged idol of Lord received from the site is now worshipped in the Baalalaya, the temporary structure constructed for the purpose.

As per the astrological-thantrik conclusions, other major deities in the complex are:

  • Goddess Bhagavathy (Rurujith vidhanam) in Mathru sala
  • God Siva – Kiratha Murthy
  • God Sasthavu (with Prabha, the consort and Sathyaka, the son)
  • Kshethrapaalan

This is a very rare conglomeration of deities as the concept of Rurujith vidhanam connected with Lord Subrahmania is unique.

The ruined plinths and extinct of the shrines of these Devathas were identified during excavation. Separate Sreekovils with new idols are to be built up for each Devatha.

Apart from this, the Astrologers predicted a powerful presence of Lord Maha Vishnu also in the area. They opined that perhaps this may either be here itself or somewhere in the nearby location.
